About Steve and Barnabas

Full-Time Missionary Engineer
Steven B. Hendrix, PE
Blessed2BlessU Ministries, Inc.

While Steve Hendrix grew up attending Mauldin UMC he did not hear the call to international mission work until 2001.  A simple ministry moment fit in with a Bible Study and some research he was doing and led him to go over and work on a rainwater harvesting system.

This trip was the start of major changes in both Steve’s life and the mission life at Mauldin UMC. After two more trips, Steve felt called to start a foreign mission trip to Peru to work on Christian orphanage buildings and took 20 members of Mauldin UMC. Over 115 people from 11 different churches have gone to Peru, Tanzania or Germany on Mauldin UMC’s international mission trips. Steve has been blessed to participate in 16 trips, leading 5 and providing engineering services to design solar power systems, site layouts and build bridges.

In 2013, Steve answered the call to go full time in the mission field and went to Tanzania to serve as a missionary engineer in January 2014
.  Steve served with that site until July of 2017 before work permit issues lead to his returning home for several months.  He is currently working at a new site in Kiruani, Tanzania with Blessed 2 Bless U Ministries and the building of their Tumaini Evangelistic Pre and Primary English Medium School Campus.

Joining Steve on the adventure is his long time missionary friend, Barnabas Bear. Barnabas helps communicate with a lot of people about the mission work going on as well as helping out with children's programs at the school. Right now Barnabas biggest role is being the spokesbear for "Reading with Barnabas."  You can find him on facebook as Barnabas Bear.
