2019 End of First Semester Brag

Tumaini Evangelistic Pre & Primary School has finished the first semester of our 2nd year in full operation.  When I think about what I want to tell people, I always start to brag on our ministry and our students.  So I am sorry but I am going to do it again.

In addition to how well the students are doing we have seen some great numbers out of the school itself in terms of working with the budget.  We currently have 97 students with 18 in Baby Class, 21 in Middle, 30 in Pre-Unity, 20 in Standard I and 8 in Standard II.  Tanzanian accounts for 40% of the school operating income.  We spent 46% of our operating budget on the student's education, 19% on transporting students, and 23% on providing 2 meals a day to the students.  We spent 9% on the facilities including the salaries for the guards and cleaning the school everyday leaving 3% on administrative costs like phone service, transport for the headteacher to deliver the school reports to the district every month.

Everything is going well with the school.  We continue with the "Reading with Barnabas" program and the teachers have taken on holding remedial classes for the handful of students in Standard I and II that are doing poorly.

It does not mean we could not still use some help though.  I could use some teachers (especially those in Preschool, 1st and 2nd Grades) that would be willing to impart some knowledge to our teachers.  No I am not asking you to journey over to Tanzania, but if you want to do that please contact me.  I would like for you to participate in our Virtual Mission Trip Program and make a video teaching our teachers how to do things without a blackboard (that is their only method of teaching here) or a video teaching a subject like shapes using visual aides.  Even the possibility of becoming a pen pal with one of our teachers to morally support and mentor them.  All of our teachers are young and Tanzanian, so they have been taught their entire lives using only a blackboard and don't always understand you don't have to have great resources of material to still reach those students who need something other than blackboard instruction.  Please if you are interested or you have a group of teacher friends that would like to learn more about how they can help us without spending any money, contact me at steveintanzania@gmail.com.

I can also use some videos of kids singing their VBS songs or other types of children singing videos.
