Ok this week I want to talk about string theory in theoretical physics…Just kidding of course I am going to talk about the truck. Let’s start at the beginning of this particular set of events.  Tuesday, March 9 I get a text from William about he has found a vehicle can I come to Arusha.  So the next morning I went into Singida through the normal transportation method of finding a piki piki to Katusha where I got a Noah minivan into Singida.  The piki piki ride was fun as I had no idea how many days I was going to be gone so I packed a larger bag for the trip in addition to my normal backpack.  Spent that night in Singida after buying a bus ticket for the next day.  I always find it interesting that all the seating charts look the same when they sell you a ticket but when you get on the bus it rarely looks the way it does on the seating chart.  The seat I paid for was on the left hand side about 2 rows behind the door so I can get a breeze.  The...

2nd best day of PI

2 nd best days of pi or π (complete references for items of a factual nature can be found in Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi Today, 3-14-15 is one of many days that consist the group called the 2 nd best days of pi. Basically this group includes all March 14 in the year 15, 115, 215,…2015, 2115 and so on.  The best day of pi was March 14, 1592 (3.141592). The mathematical constant of pi is believed to have been a part of early Egyptian buildings as early as 2589 BC because the ratio of height to perimeter of the Great Pyramid of Giza comes to 6.2857 which is approximately 2π. Tablets have been found in Egypt and Babylon where pi is represented to 1% of its actual value.  The Greeks in 250 BC came up with Archimedes' constant which is a polygonal algorithm used to calculate pi.  The Persians, Chinese and Indians all had mathematical representations to calculate pi. In the 16 th and 17 th centuries a new method for calculating pi was d...

Two weeks for the price on One

After missing a chance to post my blog last week I have consolidated the two weeks mainly because it was a little boring.  So basically I painted during the day, walked in the later afternoon, ate sandwiches except on cooking nights, read books or devotionals, showered and went to bed.  The following are some deviations from that routine. I have crocheted a giraffe head giving a raspberry.  I even added some glasses to use them for the glass program. Twiggy the Twiga helped an older lady pick out a new pair of glasses.  Her last pair were from our 2006 mission trip.  I could not get her to face the camera holding Twiggy so this was the best I could get from them. I started to hang the doors on the bath house.  This is again a time consuming process.  Normally I could hang a door by myself in the States in under an hour depending on how much hardware was accompanying the door.  Here it was 4 hours just to prep the door by sawing...
